Getting a flight upgrade may not be a true Bucket List experience for us, but flying long-haul in one of these luxury cabins is definitely on many people’s wish lists. They offer a fantastic experience and a much more comfortable way to travel. However, whilst the business and first class cabins are fabulous, for those travelling on a budget (like us and many others) it is very hard to justify. If it came to a decision between spending an extra $4000 on business class flights for the two of us or having another few weeks away there is only ever going to be one winner. We would always take the extra travel.
We recently had the fortune of getting a free upgrade on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Perth. We were moved to their Business class cabin and enjoyed the fantastic experience for our flight home to Australia. While we would love to have a special trick or tactic which will make this happen often we don’t. It’s really hard getting an upgrade unless you are a frequent flyer with a specific airline or have something to offer them. The only thing I suggest is ask. When checking in for your flight just ask them, if you don’t ask you won’t get!
