Sail the Brazilian Coast – Paraty

The picturesque coastal town of Paraty was originally a thriving port, settled by the Portuguese in the mid 17th century as way of safely extracting gold from Brazil back to Portugal and avoiding the pirates targeting ships in and out of Rio.

Today it is a tourist hot spot, famous for its beautiful old town colonial architecture and stunning coastal scenery. You can easily spend a couple of days cruising the coastline and the 300 islands set just offshore. Just head to the port and book on one of the beautiful sailing ships you can see in the gallery below.

Spend your days exploring pristine beaches and snorkelling spots, while sipping Margaritas and Caiprinhas. Definitely one to add to your Bucket List if you are heading down the coast from Rio.
