Lake Manyara National Park is another fantastic park on the Northern Tanzanian circuit. It is a relatively small park and not one I would recommend if you’re purely focussed on viewing the big 5. However, Lake Manyara certainly has it’s drawcards. At certain times of the year the lake itself is home to millions of Flamingo, but take a trip here during any month and you will likely see more than you could hope for. The other major draw is that the park is home to one of the few groups of tree climbing lions (lions who climb trees on a regular basis) anywhere in the world. While we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of a couple of lionesses by the lake they had their feat firmly on the ground.

We visited the park in October as part of a tour that took in Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater & the Serengeti. Travelling with Arunga Expeditions, who we would recommend for this trip.
