When you think of iconic safari destinations many think of Tanzania’s Serengeti or perhaps South Africa’s Kruger National Park. But none perhaps conjure up the image of Africa quite like Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. Sharing a border with the Serengeti and home to all the iconic species for which African safaris are famous, a trip to the Masai Mara for a Bucket List safari will not disappoint. Add in the presence of Africa’s Great Migration if you time your trip right and you have the makings of an incredible African adventure.
We travelled to the Mara in October staying at Sarova Lodge inside the reserve. Sarova was a beautiful camp, well situated and fully recommended. We were lucky enough to see all the big 5 as well as cheetah and were fortunate to catch the Great Migration passing through, with some incredible river crossings thrown in for good measure.
