The most populous city in the United States and home to over 8 million people, New York City is a mecca for tourists from all over the world. Also known as the Big Apple, it is estimated that over 50 million tourists visit New York each year. For nature and wilderness lovers like us it sounds like a bit of a nightmare. However, with a city this big there truly is something for everyone.
Just walking around the city gives you the opportunity to take in one of the most iconic skylines in the world. Catching a glimpse of the Empire State building and many of the other famous landmarks which we grew up seeing on TV and in movies is an almost surreal experience. Whatever you are into, whether it is exploring the fantastic museums, shopping on 5th Avenue, seeing a show on Broadway or taking a trip out to see the tourist hotspots you could easily spend weeks exploring the city.
On our trip to New York we headed up to the Bronx and watched the famous Yankees in a baseball game at the new Yankee stadium, took a stroll around the the iconic Central Park and walked over the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn. See our other posts from more on the city, the Statue of Liberty & our favourite museums.
