The Sabi Sand Game Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park offers the ultimate in Safari destinations. The luxury lodges offer an experience which is right up there with the best in Africa and the wildlife sightings are incredible. You are going to have to pay serious money to visit here but if you are looking for your Bucket List Safari destination then you won’t go wrong here.
Another benefit of Sabi Sands is, unlike many other Private reserves, it is essentially unfenced. There is no physical fence between it and the Kruger NP, meaning animals are free to roam where they please. Now for us this is a big positive, as we prefer the feeling of knowing the animals can go where they choose. However, it does mean that if the resident Wild Dog Pack decides it fancies a trip into the Kruger you aren’t going to see them (many private reserves in Africa are fully fenced, and while they offer large open spaces many feel this detracts from the ‘wildness’).
We visited Sabi Sands twice (September 2015 and November 2016. Read more about our 2016 trip here) staying at Dulini lodge on both occasions. Both visits were exceptional in terms wildlife sighting.
